Trail Running at Oak Cliff Nature Preserve

Yesterday we headed out to the Oak Cliff Nature Preserve, which is a 121-acre green space located right in the middle of urban Dallas, with hiking and biking trails created and maintained by DORBA, the Dallas Off-Road Bicycling Association. The trail configuration is a one-directional loop of about 7-8 miles in distance with varying terrain. I took along my camera, but the pictures don't do it much justice. It was very scenic, wooded and shaded, with occasional open field stretches and small creek crossings. We really enjoyed this run! It was fun, yet challenging, although not too challenging, and certainly never boring! Thanks to Cindy Melder for taking us out here and guiding us along (although the course is really well marked). We are already looking forward to heading out there again in the near future. Uh-Oh! We drank the Kool-aid!

Cindy explaining how if we listen to her and follow her lead we won't die...

Ah...nice shade and gentle ground...

Interesting collection

Just an example of what can TRIP YOU UP.

Not sure I want to run into Jeremy...

Picture didn't properly capture the 3-D aspect of this section

Morning sun shining through--gorgeous!

Hard to believe we're in Dallas...

Pig-pen survived another trail run!

  1. I crashed my mountain bike on the part of the trail in your picture of the "3-D aspect of this section." And a friend of mine chipped her tooth there as well.
